- Katya, tell me, is it really the story of a one-way ticket from Tomsk to Moscow - right? Bought and flew away?
- The truth is. At 19 years old, as many people have, I decided to prove to the whole world that I can do something. I took a ticket to Moscow: in my pocket 5 thousand rubles, no contacts, but I'm in the capital. She got off the plane and started calling everyone in Tomsk and asking who has friends in Moscow who can be asked to spend the night. Good people, of course, were found, sheltered. In general, everything turned out in the best traditions of Hollywood success stories - in the first month I changed several apartments, looked for work, slept on the mattress on the floor. At first I worked as a secretary, a realtor, then I got a job as a secretary-assistant to the head of the television project “Real Estate Academy”. I worked for six months there, and finally, I rented a room with my girlfriend on Kutuzovsky. Thanks to work, new friends appeared. Frankly speaking, there was not enough money, I worked as a promoter in the Barbados bar (thanks to Dima Ezhikov and Ivan Gurov, they have now become very cool promoters in Moscow), I slept three hours a day for several months. Of course, there were times when I suddenly thought: maybe quit everything and return to Tomsk, what if nothing happens?
“Didn't you miss your hometown, among other things?”
- I love Tomsk, but I never missed him. I have a lot in common with him, but as I drive through his streets, I understand that I like crazy Moscow with its rhythm. Therefore, I did not return, and after some time my personal life improved, things went uphill. And I still think that I did the right thing by moving: only at the age of 19 you can decide on such an adventure. And I regret a little that I got to the cinema so late: but the point is that I was not sure of myself, was embarrassed at the auditions.
“How did you manage to overcome your embarrassment?”
- I do not even know. Just at one moment I stopped being shy, that's all. I realized that you do not need to worry at castings - you need to come and remain yourself. Do not play, do not replay, avoid clamps. Show the maximum, do everything that depends on you, but do not be sure that the role is definitely yours. As well as vice versa - do not tune yourself into the fact that you are no good.
- In a word, have you always dreamed of becoming an actress?
- Yes. Here, of course, one could embellish, say that it happened by chance - but in fact, from childhood I dreamed of acting in films. I went to theatrical circles, played in the student theater. Already here, I decided to develop in this direction more carefully: I entered the Moscow School of New Cinema, and ... literally left after a year. In terms of education there, of course, much leaves much to be desired. In fact, at the time of filming in the film, I did not have acting training as such.Sometimes it seems to me that I pulled out my lucky ticket due to the fact that I am a very sociable person: I always had an incredibly wide circle of friends, and this played into my hands at the right time. Someone saw, someone helped, supported - and then a matter of chance. Well, so, I left that acting school and decided on a desperate step: I took off my showril.
- This is such a promotional video, like an interview, where the actor talks about himself?
- In fact yes. But I shot a real trailer called Katyusha. There was even a wave in the media, allegedly, an actress from Tomsk starred in a movie. In fact, this was the calculation: to create a little hype around the fact that a very cool film will be released in the cinema.
- What was the plot?
- I took Clint Eastwood’s film “Baby in a Million” as the basis of this video, and during the filming I fell from a punching bag, damaged my spine - and it’s already a problem for me. Therefore, immediately after the release of the trailer, I left for Israel, where I treated my back for a long time. But I didn’t waste time in vain - I started sending out a video to all-all-all. I was hoping that someone would see me, take up training, would recommend something. And again everything turned out well: I have a girlfriend, Katya Lopez, who showed the video to Araik Hovhannisyan, the director of the film “Take a hit, baby!” And, lo and behold, for some reason he decided that he needed me. And so I returned to Moscow, started boxing, although doctors forbade me. Imagine I have 4 spinal operations behind me! But how could I listen to them? In the film I needed to play twin sisters, one of which is a boxer.
- This is you desperate!
- Yes, I just didn’t give a damn about all the prohibitions and decided: let it be anything, but I have to play in this film. This is my chance! I do not know how this happens, but dreams come true. Therefore, I believe that a person should be able to dream and strive for his dreams. You know, they say: you can’t go - lie in the direction of your goal. In general, I did it!
- And why did you choose boxing for the showril initially?
- In fact, I always liked the movie "Million Dollar Baby", and the idea came to my mind by itself. At that time, I was engaged in boxing for only a few months, so everything coincided successfully. Boxing is close to me in character, but after filming I got into shape for a long time. And now I left him completely - boxing takes away female energy. I'm doing yoga now.
- Your film debut, apparently, was incredible: from the ship to the ball, as they say. Was it difficult to play two completely different heroines without any shooting experience?
- To be honest, it was very difficult: in one shift, sometimes I changed 10 times from one image to another. And what are home rehearsals like when I talked like crazy like Tanya (she is a boxer), then like Sveta (she is a journalist). A huge amount of text, a lot of “clips”, the inability to do everything the first time — it is very difficult when you have no experience. If not for my film crew and director, I would hardly have done it.
- From this place in more detail. As far as I know, famous actors starred in films. How did you manage to find a common language with them and work together?
- Indeed, the film is played by Mikhail Porechenkov, Roy Jones, Daniil Vakhrushev, Kostya Kryukov, Nastya Samburskaya, Anna Tsukanova, Vitaly Gogunsky, Vitya Khorinyak. All of them are simply incredible people - very easy to communicate, pleasant. We became friends with them, and they all helped me a lot while working on the film - this is probably the best acting school. In addition, just before filming, I studied acting with the coach of Alexander Nosik and Julia Yablonskaya. I’m not tired of telling you what role Mikhail Porechenkov played for me in this shoot: he revealed to me the most important rules of acting, but to be honest, I understood some of his advice later, after the shoot. As they say - better late than never.
- So, the first film is behind. Surely you are already making plans for a future movie future?
- I do not like to share plans until I proceed with their implementation. From what has already been decided: I took a one-way ticket to the USA and will fly away in the near future to study English and acting at Ivana Chubbak's acting school. Now I actively communicate with journalists, participate in the filming of trailers for the film, interesting photo projects and so on. I began to receive various offers to act in films, so I also go to auditions. I also actively develop my business - my friend and I founded the brand of sportswear lucky89.
- Very interesting. Tell me more - how are you doing?
- Oh, we are pretty successful. Now, for example, a new collection of clothing for the audience has come, a new men's line of tracksuits. We constantly go to production, listen to our customers, come up with something new. We are trying to participate in festivals, exhibitions and plan to open our own corner in one of the shopping centers. Perhaps by the end of the summer we’ll try to conduct field training, and in September we will have a website with delivery throughout Russia. In a word, we are developing and most importantly - we are agitating people to play sports, because sports are great!
- So many things - do you have free time?
- Of course. But in essence I am such a person who rests in a party, I hate loneliness. I love to cook - I used to cook incredible dishes, like Burgundy snails, pasta with truffles, because I studied at the RMA for a year and a half. I can not imagine my life without fitness - I constantly go to the gym. When I have time, I travel - recently I traveled half the United States, I really liked it there. Incredibly beautiful country with crazy energy.
- Tell me, now that your first major dream - to become a star - has come true, do you feel somehow special?
- To be honest, I still do not believe that after the release of the picture I can become a star, although they often ask me about it. And I had no idea that this could happen to me. Probably, I fully realize that I acted in films only when the film is released. I understand that it will be necessary to choose an elegant dress in order to pass on the red carpet for the first time, this will be my first premiere. I will need to decide what I will say from the stage when I stand on it with the crew. And for sure I will terribly jumble when it will be necessary to pick up the main words. But for now, I don’t think about it at all and do not fully believe that this is really happening to me. Now all my thoughts are about the USA. But my rule has always been, is and will remain unchanged: if there is a goal, it must be achieved.
