- Natalia, tell us what the bride is mainly guided by when she goes to choose a dress?
- Everything is different. Some choose a dress based on the style of the wedding: boho, rustic, classic dress. Some people start, strangely enough, from the banquet hall: they say, my wedding will be there, the decor is such and such, I need not to get lost in the interior. But basically, of course, the girls are looking for the dress of their dreams: the one in which they always imagined themselves when they thought about their wedding. And although, starting to try on, they sometimes choose something completely different, from the very beginning they already go with an idea in mind.
- You mentioned styles. Tell us what trends in styles, silhouettes, fabrics and colors exist now?
- It's summer, the hottest wedding season. And so the dresses are mostly lightweight. Gradually depart such concepts as lush dresses, A-silhouettes. Today, borders are blurred, and sometimes you can not distinguish between a classic dress and a little modernized. For the most part, girls want light skirts, because they are comfortable and you can beautifully beat a flying skirt in the photo. In general, the convenience of choosing a dress today comes to the fore; I myself always work with my clients personally and tell them: think well, do you wear this dress all day, is it convenient for you? Although I know that many people think the opposite: it's okay, this is a wedding, I will suffer one day. But in fact, many girls choose comfortable dresses, sometimes refusing those that they like visually, simply because they are heavy.
Light, multilayer dresses, tulle, flying, often with several different shades, are in fashion. Rarely choose a fully open bodice, preferring the top with a closed T-shirt or small sleeve. Neckline and puffy dresses are chosen very rarely.
- You talked about boho and rustic, as far as I remember, last year these were the top styles for summer weddings?
- Right. Today they are not watched so often, especially since these are more stylized than elegant dresses. A rustic bride is a girl in a restrained lace closed dress, without embroideries, rhinestones, sequins, usually in a very modest and not white. A boho dress is something between a hippie and a rustic, a la Dream Catchers, with colored ribbons and natural shades.
Now the trend is simple European weddings in our understanding of the word. Light, beautiful dresses in delicate shades - powdery, blue, turquoise, purple, pink - are gaining popularity. This popularity is due to the fact that in social networks there are many photo projects with such dresses, and the girls want to see themselves in the same way. Definitely not in fashion - rings, crinolines, tight corsets. Even if a girl chooses a classic dress - and it happens, because it is a classic dress that allows you to feel like a princess - it is still some kind of sophisticated and modern option.
- This season the wording “European wedding”, “European dress” often sounds. But after all, a European wedding is an absolutely classical wedding, with exit registration, bridesmaids, friends of the groom, exchange of vows and so on. The dress in this case also gravitates to the classics - or am I mistaken?
- Of course, in our Russian interpretation, a European wedding is just a modern beautiful ceremony, stylized, with taste, and a European dress in this sense for our brides is something stylish, not classic, as a rule, light, airy, unusual. Actually, speaking about trends, I would say that there are still two “camps” for brides: those who want beautiful modern classics of ivory or white, and those who need an alternative in the form of stylized air flying dresses of unusual silhouettes and colors .
- Tell us more about the colors. What shades are in trend today?
- The colors of the 2016 season, Pantone, the recognized authority in the field of color, has proclaimed rose quartz and sirenets. Simply put, pink and sky blue. Some choose dusty pink, lilac, peach shades, powdery, sand, gray colors, because the decor of their weddings is made in these colors.
- Where do wedding dresses come from mainly to Russia, and what price segments of wedding dresses exist?
- The vast majority of dresses in the segment of the mass market - from 20 to 40 thousand rubles - are dresses from Ukraine. They are not distinguished by the highest quality, hard fabrics, heavy corsets, standard design. Ukraine sews dresses and more expensive, in the segment of about 50 thousand rubles, as well as even more expensive ones - for 50-60 thousand rubles. Another major supplier is Belarus, they also have budget dresses in the segment of 20-40 thousand rubles, there are more expensive options. Classic brands like Pronovias are popular - they cost already from 100 thousand rubles, this is an expensive beautiful classic. Those dresses that we see in American films usually belong to brands such as Elie Saab, Vera Wang - these are dresses whose price starts from 400 thousand rubles. In Russia, they can be popular only in large cities. Russia itself does not sew much, and basically these are copies of those brands that are already on the market.
- Tell us, in connection with the popularity of European weddings and unusual styles, have the requirements for accessories also changed?
- Yes, today small jewelry for the head, as well as small stud earrings, come to the fore. If the veil is light, and many refuse it at all, at least from lace and bulky. Almost everything is forgotten about our traditions in this sense.
“But our traditions, ransom, loaf, hearth, can be beaten beautifully?”
- Of course you can. But now it’s more interesting for people to make an exchange of vows, transfer of the bride to the father - the groom, bridesmaids, friends of the groom, hen party, bachelor party and so on. In fact, the meaning of the ransom is lost today: young people live together before the wedding, make a holiday with their own money. Although many people leave the loaf and hearth - they think over with the wedding organizer how to do it beautifully and leave it. In general, today a wedding is a beautiful setting, beautiful photos, a holiday.
“When choosing dresses, do brides want their dress in the city to be the only one?”
“Most, of course, yes.” It is important for them that later on photographs on social networks only their dress should be theirs. But it doesn’t always work out. Often, if bridesmaid dresses are the same, then they agree that weddings should not be on the same day. Someone simply refuses the dress that another girl has already chosen.I myself think that, of course, it's great when your dress is the one and only, but if you really found a dream dress, what's the difference, does anyone else have it? This is your wedding, you like yourself just like that, the groom will look only at you. Sense to refuse a dream dress, even if someone else chose it?
- Speaking about the topic of choice, I want to know: with whom is it best to choose a dress? Whom to listen to in the fitting?
- You can listen only to yourself and no one else. The company of those who come with you to try on should be only moral support. You must set everyone up so that they support you, not criticize them harshly. Because many girlfriends choose a dress for themselves - but this is wrong! Choose a dress for the bride.
It’s good to choose a dress with an organizer - she knows exactly what style of the wedding is and sees if the bride liked the dress or not. And oddly enough, with the suitors: he only evaluates whether you are beautiful or not, and does not pay attention to whether this bead or this ruffle is needed on the dress. But at the very sight, it is better to save the groom from this procedure, so that there would be such a “wow effect” on weddings. And the most disloyal people when choosing a dress are mothers. They almost always want to see their daughter as a princess in a white classic dress and do not accept other options. Those who agree to any color and model, if only their daughter liked it, are much less.
- Previously, all the brides went to the shops for the dress, watched them themselves, tried on in the fitting rooms. Today, more and more popular is the studio of wedding dresses, where you need to sign up for a fitting. What are the pros and cons of those and others and where better to go for a dress?
- Oddly enough, the stores where you just come for a dress still occupy about 70% of the market. Here, each bride decides for herself, it is more important for her to simply choose a dress or feel the moment: sign up for a fitting, come to the salon, call friends, know that the consultant will work only with her, no one will breathe in her back, there will be no strangers. I will say one thing for sure: everywhere you should be offered services of a seamstress in order to fit the dress in height. There is still the option to order a dress over the Internet, but it is always a pig in a poke. First, the effect of “expectation and reality” has not been canceled by anyone. Secondly, this dress will have to be hemmed, customized and steamed independently, so the benefit is not as great as we would like. And finally, often girls, coming to measure one dress, buy another, because during the dressing, each dress is revealed differently. Therefore, it is better to buy a dress in the salon, so that you do not regret it later. And if you want a completely exclusive dress - it can be sewn to order. This is usually suitable for those who already have clear ideas about the dress, under which it is difficult to find something among the finished models.
- And how do you think, is it possible to rent a wedding dress?
- Most often, rental is an attempt to save, but saving is doubtful, because you need to understand: if a salon needs to be in profit from the first sale, then at the rental - from the first rental. It is unlikely that you will save a lot. It’s just that there will be a mark-up on the dress. And then - how are all the signs that the dress should be only yours? What if the one who took it before you canceled the wedding? Or did the couple break up? But there are no such guarantees at the box office. Therefore, of course, each bride must decide for herself. After all, only by listening to yourself you can find the very dress in which the bride will feel like a real princess.
