Therefore, no matter how smart and reliable the helper may be, the digestion procedure takes place as it did several decades ago.

When digestion is indispensable

How much do you need to cook linen? Boiling laundry is a rather lengthy and time-consuming process. It is not surprising that modern women, on whose shoulders are entrusted with many worries, are in no hurry to resort to such a procedure. Noticing a gray coating or stubborn stains on the products, they rush to use trendy powders or bleaches. And in some cases they even get good results. But sometimes there are situations when it is impossible to do without boiling. One can hardly find an alternative to digesting laundry in the following situations.

  • Disinfection to come. In the case of infectious diseases, the most effective method of disinfection is boiling. Such a procedure is subject to all the patient’s bedding, his personal belongings. In the case of fungus, scarlet fever, scabies, doctors recommend constantly digesting clothes to protect the patient from reinfection.
  • The house is allergic. How to wash bedding for a person who is allergic to household chemicals? To cleanse dirt, it is recommended to resort to digestion of things.
  • In the house is a newborn. Baby underpants, diapers, sliders must be digested. And although some young parents ignore this procedure, pediatricians are strongly advised not to refuse it. Why boil baby clothes? Digestion of things helps protect the umbilical wound in a newborn from infection.
  • Stubborn stains. Boil white things to remove stains is necessary if they remain after washing.
  • Need to bleach. If things have acquired a gray tint, which cannot be eliminated by washing in a washing machine, then you can try to remove it in the process of boiling.
You can digest both white and colored products. But only natural fabrics are subject to boiling: cotton and linen. If the product contains synthetic fibers, then this fabric will collapse during boiling.

Subtleties and rules

How to boil bleach? There are five recommendations, the observance of which will allow you to get not only a snow-white and fresh product, but also to protect the fabric from destruction.

  1. Preparation of the solution. Initially, it is necessary to completely dissolve the selected product in the pan. Difficulties may arise with laundry soap. To dissolve it, it is recommended to grate it.
  2. Sorting laundry. All things must be divided. White products are boiled separately from color or dark. It is advisable to boil cotton and linen products separately.
  3. Boiling laundry. Laundry is laid immediately after the detergent is dissolved. It is important that all things are completely immersed in water. As soon as the water boils, the fire is reduced. This will prevent the solution from overflowing. During boiling, the products must be mixed to ensure the most complete digestion.
  4. Digestion time. How much to boil bleach? The procedure time depends on the contamination of the products. You can digest from 30 minutes to two hours. Turning off the fire, the container with the linen is left on the stove until it cools.
  5. The final stage. After boiling, things must be rinsed twice in cool water. Carefully squeezed, they are shaken off and hung out for drying. To provide better whitening, try to dry in the fresh air under the sun.
Do not throw dirty things in boiling water. This procedure will not provide high-quality whitening, but will lead to "brewing" spots. All products are placed exclusively in a warm solution.

What you need: tools and solutions

If a decision is made on the digestion of linen, then some equipment will be needed. It is advisable to take care of it in advance to greatly facilitate the procedure. Boiling requires two things.

  1. Pan. You can use a large basin or boil-out. When choosing what can boil things, use enameled containers or galvanized. And make sure that there are no rust marks in the pan. Otherwise, red stains will remain on the products, which will not be eliminated in any way.
  2. Forceps. It is necessary to mix linen periodically. It is very convenient to carry out such an event with the help of special wooden tongs. If there is no such device, then you can use a regular stick.

Bleach

For the digestion procedure, you will need a detergent. You can use ordinary powder or liquid bleach. Such tools quite effectively clean the pollution. And to enhance the cleaning ability, it is recommended to mix several components. Effectively boil white things using the following compounds (proportions are given for 10 liters of water).

  • Powder with bleach. This is a standard mixture that is designed to effectively whiten products and eliminate contaminants. Pour half a glass of powder and bleach into the pan (for example, “Vanish”). The solution is thoroughly mixed.
  • Chlorine with salt. Any bleach that contains chlorine is suitable for the boiling procedure. You can take the usual whiteness. A pound of the chosen product is combined with 500 g of table salt and poured into a pan. This combination will allow not only high-quality bleaching of the fabric, but also provide it with shine.
  • Powder with potassium permanganate. This tool is often used to disinfect bedding (for example, from lice). Pour half a glass of powder into the pan. The solution is mixed well. Then add potassium permanganate. Only a few crystals need to be added so that the liquid acquires a slightly noticeable pink tint.
  • Hydrogen peroxide with powder. This combination will effectively bleach textiles, eliminate stains from coffee, berries, various fruits. A glass of powder and half a glass of 3% hydrogen peroxide are added to the water. In this mixture things boil no more than half an hour.
  • Hydrogen peroxide with soda. How to boil linen so that gray turns white? Apply peroxide and soda. This combination will effectively eliminate old dirt, eliminate sweat stains on shirts and T-shirts. For the digestion procedure, add half a glass of soda to the pan and pour half a glass of peroxide into it. Boil products in this mixture for half an hour.
  • Ammonia with peroxide. The mixture will effectively eliminate pollution and provide bleaching of the fabric. In order to properly boil contaminated products, it is necessary to pour four tablespoons of ammonia and peroxide into a pan with water. In such a solution, things should be boiled no more than 45-50 minutes.
  • Powder with vegetable oil and bleach. For this recipe, you need five tablespoons of dry bleach. You can use the tool "Persol." Add half a glass of powder to the pan. Then pour 125 ml of vegetable oil. This boiling will eliminate even old greasy stains. But in such a solution tissue is boiled for no more than five minutes. Then the pan is turned off and left to cool completely.

Means for colored fabrics

Is it possible to cook linen with a pattern? This question often arises among beginners in this matter. Experienced housewives argue that boiling colored products is perfectly acceptable. But bleaches are not suitable for cleaning such things. It is necessary to completely abandon bleach and peroxide.

For fabrics with a pattern, such compositions are optimal (calculation per 10 l of water).

  • Soap and soda. Pour 40 g of soap dispenser into the pan. Then add four tablespoons of soda. The solution is thoroughly mixed until completely dissolved. Then they lay things. To enhance the cleaning effect, it is recommended to soak the tissue in this solution for approximately 20-30 minutes. And only then proceed to boiling.
  • Soda with salt. Only pre-washed laundry can be boiled in such a mixture. 250 g of soda and salt are poured into the pan. The solution is stirred. They put colored linen in a container and boil for about 30 minutes.

How to boil laundry: step by step

To cope with the procedure for digesting linen, you can use the following algorithm-tip. It provides seven actions.

  1. Choose a pot. Usually recommended to take a ten-liter.
  2. Pour water into the container. Fill half the volume.
  3. Pour in detergents. And mix the solution thoroughly.
  4. Submerge things in water. The fluid should completely cover all products. You should not try to boil all the laundry at one time. For a quality boiling procedure per kilogram of dirty laundry, use 10 l of washing solution.
  5. Place the pot on the stove. When the water in the tank begins to boil, immediately reduce the heat, otherwise the soapy solution will flood the burners.
  6. Shuffle things. After boiling, be sure to mix the laundry with wooden tongs.
  7. Let the laundry “sap”. When the digestion procedure is over, do not rush to take out the laundry. Leave the pan to cool. Remove items from a slightly warm solution.
Be sure to rinse the laundry several times. To facilitate the process, you can use the washing machine by setting the rinse mode.

Tips for baby stuff

To remove stubborn stains or to disinfect products, you need to consider not only the degree of contamination. It is important to remember that allergy sufferers should better refuse. And when planning the digestion of children's things, chlorine or chemical bleaches should be completely eliminated. Experienced housewives recommend sticking to the following recommendations.

  • Use special tools. To boil white things for a newborn, use only detergents that are intended for children. They do not contain harmful and aggressive additives that can harm the delicate skin of the child. It can be a baby soap, a special baby powder. For washing or boiling, you can use laundry soap. And air conditioners, bleaches should be abandoned. If it is necessary to bleach the product, then the use of soda is permissible.
  • Boil separately from other products. Digesting children's things is strictly prohibited along with other products. Especially with adult laundry.
  • Give preference to soap and soda. For children's things, it is best to use a soap-soda solution. 100 g of baby soap and 100 g of soda are taken to a pot of water.
  • Determine the optimal time. If the procedure is carried out only in order to disinfect new things, then 15-20 minutes is enough. If it is necessary to clean the diapers from contamination, then boiling can last up to two hours.

Use another simple recommendation, so that boiling the laundry in the pan will bring the desired results. If you are dealing with heavily washed, yellowed things from time to time, then after digestion, during the last rinse, pour a little blue in the water. Rinse the tissues in this solution. And literally before our eyes they will acquire a characteristic whiteness.
