Children lie on the grass

Those who have come across grassy stains on jeans know how difficult it is to deal with them. Firstly, the green pigment is very caustic and is deeply absorbed into the tissue. Secondly, denim material is a tightly interwoven cotton fiber, between which pollution is firmly fixed, and detergents penetrate quite difficult. Nevertheless, experienced housewives can cope with even the most difficult pollution.

How to wash grass with jeans: hand made stain removers

How to wash or clean the grass from clothes? If you like to spend time in nature, you definitely need to know a few tricks how to remove grass stains on jeans. Habitual powders and concentrates are usually powerless against such contaminants. But folk remedies, time-tested, will always come to the rescue.

Hydrogen peroxide

  1. Place a towel or any other clean, light cloth under the contaminated area.
  2. On a stain, drop a little hydrogen peroxide, rub lightly with a cotton swab and leave for 30-60 minutes.
  3. Wash jeans by hand or in a washing machine.
Peroxide copes with insidious spots from any grass (even from dandelions), as well as berries. But along with pollution, she “eats” paint from the fabric. Therefore, this method is only suitable if you need to wash light jeans.

Baking soda

  1. Mix soda with water to make slurry.
  2. If the dirt is strong or old, add a little vinegar to the mass.
  3. Spread the composition in a dense layer over the contaminated area.
  4. An hour later, send the jeans to the washing machine.
Soda is an abrasive. Therefore, if your pants are sewn from thin fabric, do not rub the pulp into the stain. You risk damaging the fibers.

Vinegar

  1. Moisten the contaminated area with wine or ordinary table vinegar and leave for an hour.
  2. If the dirt is severe, rub it with an old toothbrush.
  3. Wash a thing in the usual way.

Toothpaste

  1. Lubricate the stain with toothpaste and wait for it to dry completely. This usually takes up to 20 minutes.
  2. With a toothbrush, carefully remove the dried paste and wash the item.
  3. Instead of toothpaste, you can use tooth powder diluted with water to the consistency of thick sour cream.
If you use toothpaste to combat grass stains, make sure that they are white, without color splashes. Otherwise, after washing, you may notice new spots that will not be so easy to get rid of.

Hands washing jeans

Ammonia

  1. Dilute a tablespoon of the active substance in a glass of water.
  2. Soak the sponge in the resulting solution and attach to the contaminated area.
  3. After an hour and a half, wash the soiled item with laundry soap.

Boiling water

  1. Put the stained jeans or shorts in the basin so that the stained place is on top.
  2. Pour boiled water over the stained thing.
  3. Wash jeans.
This method only works with fresh soiling. If you quickly pour the soiled thing with boiling water, the pigment will dissolve and the jeans will return to their original appearance.

Lemon

  1. Dilute citric acid or lemon juice with water in equal proportions.
  2. Apply the composition to the stain and leave for 30-40 minutes. During this time, the acid should destroy the green pigment.
  3. Now wash your jeans by hand using powder or laundry soap.
If you have neither lemon nor citric acid in your household, you can use pickle from pickles or sauerkraut. It contains enough active substances to remove the grass stain on the jeans.

Salt

  1. In half a glass of water, dissolve three teaspoons of shallow salt.
  2. Pour over the soiled area, pour brine so that the fabric is well wet.
  3. Wash jeans after ten minutes.

Alcohol

  1. Apply alcohol, vodka or cologne to the stained cloth and leave for half an hour.
  2. Now you need to rub the thing with laundry soap and leave for another 30-60 minutes.
  3. Wash jeans.

Soda

  1. Mineral water or any carbonated drink (preferably without bright dyes) moisten the stained areas.
  2. Leave for two hours. During this time, the drink will act as a bleach.
  3. Wash jeans in warm water with laundry soap or any powder.

Laundry soap

  1. Make shavings from laundry soap by grating it.
  2. Mix with water to make a thick soapy mass.
  3. Apply to stain and leave for half an hour.
  4. Wash jeans.
To scrub the stain off the grass on the jeans, white scented soap will not work. You will have to get a piece of the real alkaline high maintenance. It gives out a brown color and a characteristic pungent odor.

8 tips to make green blots disappear for sure

There are many options than to wash the grass with denim. Nevertheless, success depends not only on the choice of means, but also on how correctly and skillfully it was used. In order to restore your favorite item to its original form at home without ruining it, pay attention to eight useful tips.

  1. The faster the better. Getting fresh grass out of jeans is a lot easier than getting an old stain. Therefore, if such a nuisance happened to your favorite thing, immediately act without delaying the solution to the problem.
  2. Do not soak the grass stain. Cold chlorinated water only contributes to the fact that the pigment is more ingrained in the tissue.
  3. Do not rub. If you spot a stain, do not try to remove it with a damp cloth or handkerchief. You will only rub grass juice even deeper into the fibers.
  4. Use stain removers. On the shelves with household chemicals, there are a lot of modern detergents that can easily cope with any difficult stains. To remove jeans from traces of grass, select formulations marked “For colored items”.
  5. Check fabric response. Whatever tool you use to remove green grass from jeans, there is always a risk of ruining the fabric. To ensure that no white marks appear on the blue material, test the product on the inner seam.
  6. Prevent Stains. To do this, treat the stain not from the middle, but towards the center.
  7. Do not stop there. If the stain has not completely receded the first time, repeat the procedure. It might be worth experimenting with another remedy.
  8. Old spots require more time. To remove them, the composition must act on the tissue for two to three hours. The most difficult spots can be treated with the composition at night.

There are many ways to remove grass stains on jeans. But, unfortunately, none of them gives an absolute guarantee of success. Even after modern stain removers, slight yellow-green traces may remain on the fabric. But this does not mean that you have to say goodbye to your favorite thing. You can hide the stain under a fashion applique, stylish embroidery or make spectacular ripped jeans.
