How to fold your shirt: quick ways for products with long and short sleeves

Ironed shirts should be hung on the shoulders and carefully placed in the closet at a distance from other things. In this case, the works of the hostess are rewarded at their true worth: shirts keep their shape and are ready for publication at any time. But what if the capricious thing needs to be packed in a bag or suitcase? For example, a spouse goes on a business trip and immediately leaves the train for an important meeting. Attract a case or portpled to solve the problem? And if there are no special covers at hand? Then you can learn how to fold the shirt so that it does not wrinkle.
Stacked Shirts

The technique of "folding" folding the shirt is interesting not only to those who often travel. Sometimes housewives store things this way. The method also comes in handy when you need to beautifully fold a men's shirt, bought as a gift.

The first thing to do is iron the product correctly. Divide the front of the work into three sections.

  1. We start with the collar. Iron the inside out, starting from the corners and heading towards the middle. And then pay attention to the front side. But this advice is not relevant for things of dark shades or sewn from shiny fabrics - their “facade” is not ironed.
  2. We make sleeves without “arrows”. If they are long, then first pay attention to the cuffs - both from the inside and from the “face”. Next, fold the sleeve along the seam and iron. But remember that you need to prevent the appearance of arrows. Therefore, it is important to start ironing from the central part, heading towards the edges, but not reaching them. Then lay the sleeve so that the seam is in the middle and go through the hot press again.
  3. We process the back and shelves. No special tricks are needed here. Start stroking the back, paying particular attention to the seams located between it and the shelves. Treat the main part first, and then the yoke. Process in the same way before the product.
After the “hot” process, do not rush to put the required element of a business suit in a bag. Hang the shirt on your shoulders. Let it cool down and fix the shape, otherwise the folds will appear again from the slightest touch.

How to fold a shirt so that it does not wrinkle: step-by-step instructions with a video

How to fold a shirt so that it does not wrinkle? There are a dozen solutions to this problem. Of these, four classic ones can be distinguished, which are also used when assembling things in stores. They are simple to execute and master quickly. You should proceed step by step. And the first thing to do is prepare the workplace. You will need a flat and wide surface. Better get laid out on the table. Wash it and wipe dry. You can optionally cover with a thick cloth.

Please note that before folding, you must fasten the product. It is possible on all buttons. And you can use only the top and bottom. It is not necessary to fasten cuffs.

Sleeves to the sides

  1. Button the product.
  2. Place the shirt face down.
  3. To compactly fold a shirt with long sleeves, mentally divide it into three horizontal parts. The lower third part is bent back so that it reaches the center of the shoulder element of the sleeve.
  4. Bend the right sleeve to the left, making a bend approximately in the middle of the shoulder. Fold three times so that the cuffs are on top.
  5. Bend the left sleeve to the right, making a bend approximately in the middle of the shoulder. Fold in three, but the left sleeve should lie parallel to the right, and lift the cuff closer to the collar.
  6. Fold the bottom edge of the thing up one more time so that it reaches the collar area.
  7. Turn the product face up.

When you need to put together several things at once, do not rush to do everything at once. First, iron the clothes and only then proceed to assembly. Just by this time, the first ironed products have already cooled down.

Sleeves on the back

  1. Fasten the buttons and turn the shirt over so that its front is at the bottom.
  2. Find an approximate central point between the collar seam and the edge of the left sleeve. Follow these instructions: with one hand grasp the imaginary mark, with the other - keep the bottom edge of the product at the same level. You should form a straight line along which you need to bend the sleeves and part of the shirt so that they are behind your back.
  3. The sleeve should lie directly on the back - in a parallel line to the curved edge.
  4. Fold the right sleeve in the same way.
  5. Now bend the main part of the product three times: first fold the bottom edge to about the center, and then pull the upper part towards the collar.
  6. Turn the product face up.

Shirt folding scheme

In the closet, the shirts are arranged facing each other, but with a jack. That is, the bottom edge of the shirt, which lies on top, is applied to the collar, which is at the bottom of the shirt. So capricious wardrobe items will be protected from creasing. But this is relevant only when storing products on a shelf. But in a suitcase, collars should always look up.

Rolls

  1. Fold the product as described in the previous version of the "Sleeves on the back."
  2. Now proceed as follows: starting from the bottom, roll things up to the collar.
  3. Do not twist too tight, otherwise there will be folds.
  4. In the bag, lay the roll up with the collar up and arrange several items in a row.
The “roll” method is convenient if you need to pack a shirt made of mixed fabrics or synthetic polos in a bag. But the option is not suitable for products from natural fabrics, which by their nature are very wrinkled. Also, the method is applied if things are packed in a backpack.

Method for short sleeve products

  1. Button the product.
  2. Put the shirt on the table "face" down.
  3. To fold a shirt with short sleeves, mentally divide the product into three parts vertically and fold the left side into the back in an imaginary straight line.
  4. Now bend the sleeve two times, but do not touch the lower edge, leaving it even.
  5. Perform the same manipulations with the right side.
  6. Fold the bottom of the model up to the sleeves.
  7. Fold the item in half so that the bottom is in contact with the collar.

The high-quality assembly of all shirts (and even those without sleeves) depends on the ability to correctly determine the distance between the parts of the product. If it’s still difficult for you to navigate, you can measure the required centimeters with a ruler. There is another option - use the children's album for drawing or a notebook of A4 format. Place a stationery on the back of the product between the shoulders at the collar. And being guided by this "template", bend the sleeves.

How to transport ironed and folded clothes

How to put a shirt and other clothes on a trip so as not to wrinkle? Fold the ironed shirt so that it does not wrinkle - it's half the battle. It is important that the product withstands the test of expensive. What exactly will you be carrying luggage? You can, of course, pack a shirt and a laptop bag (if you bring a minimum of things with you). But it is better to give preference to suitcases with a rigid skeleton. Such "transportation" will provide things inside with protection from external influences. Consider two more tricks.

  1. Use the boxes. You can put your shirt in a suitcase so that it does not wrinkle, using boxes. During transportation, cardboard will additionally protect things from external influences. You can take "native" packaging from shirts. If there are no such boxes, you can simply fix the shirt on both sides with sheets of cardboard of a suitable size.
  2. Pack things tightly. If you have a few things, you need to make sure that the clothes do not move freely in the empty space of the bag.Either choose a smaller suitcase, or fill the space with, for example, a towel.
If the product still jammed on the road, try steaming it. This can be done using hot water. For example, hold the product near a boiling kettle. Or hang over the water floating in a basin. Only for linen and cotton products this method will not work.

A few more tricks

In a suitcase, shirts and items made of light materials should be placed on top of the rest of your luggage. Otherwise, even with all the assembly rules, the products will eventually be wrinkled. Also consider a few more points that will allow you to fold the ironed shirt so as not to wrinkle it and bring it from point “A” to point “B” in perfect condition.

  • Button up the buttons. If they are large and have volumetric elements, then they can be additionally wrapped with baking paper or similar in texture. This is necessary so that the pattern from the accessories does not print on the fabric.
  • Soft paper. Clothes made from delicate fabrics can be further protected by wrapping in clean paper bags.
  • Plastic holder. Some models are implemented with special devices designed to maintain the shape of the collar and cuffs. They can be used during transportation. An alternative solution - inside these elements of the shirt can be inserted rollers from thin scarves.

Even knowing how to fold your shirt properly, you are 100% immune from the appearance of ugly folds. On the road, luggage may be under the rubble of other bags and suitcases. Therefore, if you are often on business trips, it is better to buy non-creasing things from fabric with special impregnation for these cases. True, the price sometimes bites. A men's shirt of this quality costs from 5500 rubles (in July 2017).
