  1. Let's start making the soup by carefully sorting the peas, removing the excess garbage and rinsing it several times in running water so that the excess starch comes out of the peas.
    Rinse the peas well.
  2. Next, pour peas in a pan or any other container, pour cold water, in a ratio of one to three, i.e., 1 cup of peas 3 cups of water, and leave for 15-20 minutes to make it swell. Therefore, the recipe indicates the optimal time for soaking peas.

Did you know? Whole or split peas are sold in dried form, there is completely no moisture in it. If you start cooking it right away, it will be difficult to calculate the cooking time. If it is pre-filled with water, the cooking process will be accelerated several times. But if the peas are overexposed in water, then it will remain solid even with prolonged cooking. The soaking time of whole peas should be increased three times. If there is no time to soak peas or you forgot to do it, it does not matter - just fill it with water and add 1 tsp. baking soda. Thanks to her, peas will become soft faster.

  1. While the peas are standing, let's take care of the other ingredients. Wash the chicken fillet and cut into medium sized slices so that they cook quickly in the soup.
    Cut the chicken into small pieces.
  2. Cut the potatoes into small slices or cubes.
    We also cut potatoes.
  3. Next, cut the remaining ingredients - carrots into thin slices, onions into a small cube, chop the dill.

Cooking soup

  1. After 15 minutes, the peas absorbed almost all the water and swell. If there is a lot of water left, you need to drain it.
    Drain the water from the peas.
  2. To the peas in the pan add potatoes, chicken slices. The cooking time for all these products is the same, so they can be laid together. Fill the food with water, cover and cook the soup over medium heat for 20 minutes until all the ingredients are ready.
    Add the chicken and potatoes to the peas. pour water and set to cook.
  3. Pour 1 tbsp into the pan. l vegetable oil and we pass the carrots with onions so that the vegetables become soft and the onions are slightly gilded.
    Cooking vegetables and dill.
  4. We shift the prepared vegetables into soup, bring to a boil and cook for another 5 minutes.
    We transfer the grill to soup.
  5. Salt pea soup should only be when the dish is almost ready. Therefore, at this stage, salt to taste.
