Ginger 500 g
Sugar 300 g

Step cooking

  1. For cooking, we will use fresh ginger root. Its amount depends on how much you want to get the finished dish. We took 500 g of ginger. We rinse it and peel with a potato peeler. If there is no such device at home, you can use an ordinary knife.
    Peel the ginger root.
  2. Peeled ginger into thin slices or cubes.
    Cut the ginger root into slices.
  3. We send it to the pan and fill it with water so that ginger is completely covered with it. We put on the fire, let it boil. Make the fire small and cook for 10-15 minutes.
    Pour ginger with water and set to cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Drain the ginger, leaving a small amount in a separate bowl. Leave the ginger in the pan and add sugar and the remaining broth to it. The amount of sugar depends on how sweet you want to make it.
    Drain the water, add sugar.
  5. Let us boil and cook, stirring constantly, until all the water has boiled away.
    Cook the ginger syrup until the liquid evaporates.
  6. Cover the dish with parchment paper and spread the ginger. If desired, each piece can be rolled in white or brown sugar.
    Lay out pieces of ginger on parchment to dry, sprinkling them with sugar.
  7. We let it dry for 10-15 minutes and can use it. Candied ginger will be an excellent healthy dessert for tea or any other favorite drink. It can also be added to sweet pastries. Pies and muffins with candied ginger are very tasty. Store in a lidded container in a cool, dry place. Shelf life up to 3 months.
    Ginger in sugar will be a good addition to tea, coffee.

  • When choosing a ginger root, take the one with the lightest skin. It is he who is considered the youngest and freshest.
