How to cook homemade jelly from berries

How to cook homemade jelly  from berries

Kitchen appliances and utensils

  • stove or hob;
  • a suitable size pan
  • a bowl;
  • tablespoon;
  • sieve or colander.

Ingredients

  • Berries and fruits - 300 g
  • Sugar - 1/2 stack.
  • Boiling water - 2 l
  • Starch - 1 tbsp. l (with a slide)

Step cooking

  1. We spread 300 g of carefully washed, peeled and, if necessary, sliced ​​fruits and berries into the pan to your taste (raspberries, cherries, cranberries, currants, apples, apricots, etc. are suitable). Pour washed berries and fruits into the pan.
  2. In the same pan, pour 1/2 cup sugar. Add sugar.
  3. Pour the fruit and berry mixture and sugar 2 liters of boiling water. Pour the berries with sugar in water.
  4. We put the pan on medium heat and cook for 30 minutes. Bring the liquid to a boil.
  5. In a small bowl pour 1 tbsp. l (with a slide) of starch. Pour starch into a small bowl.
  6. Add a little cold water to the starch and thoroughly mix everything together until smooth. We breed starch in water.
  7. After 30 minutes, remove the pan with berries and fruits from the stove and filter its contents through a colander or sieve (we will no longer need fruits and berries). The resulting compote is filtered through a sieve.
  8. The filtered liquid is poured back into the pan and set on fire. When the liquid boils, take a bowl with starch, mix it again and pour into a saucepan in a thin stream. We return the compote to the stove and, after boiling, we introduce the starch solution into it.
  9. Mix the contents of the pan thoroughly for several minutes (so that the starch is completely dissolved and no lumps form in the jelly). Stir the jelly so that no lumps form.
  10. When the liquid boils again, turn off the heat and remove the pan from the stove. After boiling, remove the jelly from the heat.
  11. Pour the jelly into glasses and enjoy the result. Now you know how to cook jelly.

Decoration and serving

Serve jelly to the table in the cooled form for dessert. So that on its surface a sticky film does not form, the jelly should be sprinkled with sugar or powdered sugar. If desired, the drink can be further garnished before serving (for example, with a sprig of fresh mint). Jelly can also be used as gravy for casseroles, pancakes, cheesecakes, etc. Bon appetit!
