  1. Chop the cabbage finely with a knife or a special shredder.

  1. Make mashed potatoes: peel and boil the potatoes until cooked. Mash with hot vegetable stock. (Prepare the broth from any vegetables: onions, carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, etc.).
  2. If sauerkraut is too acidic, then it should be pre-washed and allowed to drain.
  3. Cut the onion into half rings. Fry in vegetable oil for no more than 2-3 minutes.
  4. Take a ceramic, cast iron or any heat resistant form. Lubricate it with vegetable oil. Spread half the mashed potatoes with the first layer, then the fried onions. The third layer is sauerkraut, then mashed potatoes again.
  5. Pour the remaining oil on top and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes at a temperature of 180-200 degrees.
