Oven Baked Mackerel Recipe

Potato 1 kg
Large onion 1 PC.
Lemon 1 PC.
Vegetable oil 2.5 tbsp. l

Step cooking

  1. First, they are preparing mackerel. If you purchased frozen fish, then it is first thawed, preferably in the refrigerator. Then they get rid of all the insides, cut off the head, tail and fins. Rinse all 3 mackerels thoroughly, because if you do not do this or cheat at this stage, the fish will have an unpleasant bitter aftertaste, which will not be easy to get rid of.
    We clean and carefully mackerel.
  2. Prepared fish is salted with 1-2 tsp. salt, sprinkled with a pinch of pepper. Seasoning mackerel is required from all sides, including inside.

  3. On the fish, on the one hand, several small oblique incisions are made.
    On each carcass we make oblique incisions.
  4. They are preparing potatoes. Rinse a kilogram of potatoes under running water, peel and cut into slices.

  5. One large onion is cut in half, then cut in half rings 2-3 mm thick.
    We cut the onions in half rings.
  6. Half a lemon is also cut in half rings.
    Cut the lemon in half circles.
  7. Prepare a baking sheet, pouring it 2.5 tbsp. l vegetable oil. Using a silicone brush, lubricate the entire surface, including the edges of the pan.
    Grease a baking tray with vegetable oil.
  8. On the baking sheet spread the chopped potatoes, sprinkling it on top of 1 tsp. salt and pepper to taste and season a little curry.
    Put potatoes on a baking sheet, sprinkle with salt, pepper, curry.
  9. Chopped onions are spread on top of the potatoes, and 3 mackerels are placed on top.
    Lay onions on top of the potatoes, then spread the fish.
  10. Using the remaining half of the lemon, abundantly juice the fish. Slices of lemon are inserted into the cuts.
    Insert slices of lemon into the incisions on the carcasses.
  11. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and put the mackerel with potatoes for an hour. It is also possible to cook mackerel not only with potatoes, but also add other vegetables, for example, carrots, mushrooms and others. And also potatoes can be replaced with any other side dish.
    Mackerel in the oven with potatoes, cooked according to this recipe, is a wonderful full-fledged dish.
  12. Ready mackerel fish and potatoes are transferred to a beautiful dish and served to guests. You can decorate the dish with fresh herbs to your taste on top.
    To serve, put the dish on a separate large plate.
