Dry apple jam - an interesting recipe 🍏

To make dry jam from apples, it takes time, patience and, of course, apples. Apples are first sliced, then mixed with sugar, then placed in the oven and left to dry in the open. After cooking, the jam is obtained in the form of candied amber - slices that can be stored in a cloth bag or paper box, without thinking about sterilizing cans.

Sugar 900 g
Cinnamon 1 tsp
Lemon acid 2 tsp

  1. I thoroughly wash the apples.

  2. Cut rotted or beaten parts. Weigh apples to know in what proportion to add sugar. We got 3 kg of apples. Cut apples into slices (we divide each apple into 6 - 8 parts), remove the core, leave the peel. It is advisable that the slices be whole and the same, without cut parts, then the jam will look more beautiful.

Sugar Preparation for Syrup

  1. Pour 900 g of sugar into a bowl. We take sugar per 1 kg of apples - 300 g of sugar. Pour 2 tsp into sugar. citric acid. Add 1 tsp. ground cinnamon. If you like cinnamon, then you can put more, about 1 tsp. per 1 kg of apples. Mix the dry ingredients well.

Making jam

  1. Put the finished chopped apples on a baking sheet, preferably in one layer. If all apples do not fit on 1 baking sheet, then it can be divided into several baking sheets. Pour apples with sugar.
    Mix the ingredients to cook.
  2. Mix apples and sugar with our hands. Try to keep the sugar evenly distributed. You can fill apples with sugar immediately on a baking sheet, or you can fill it in a separate bowl, mix them, and then put them on a baking sheet. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. We put in a preheated oven a baking sheet with apples for 20 minutes. We take it out of the oven, drain the resulting syrup.

  3. Let the apples cool.

  4. We spread it on a grid or on stretched gauze.
    Dry the ingredients to cook.
  5. We leave to dry in a warm place (this can be done on the balcony), and preferably in the shade. It will take 2 days to dry the apples. At the same time, apples are reduced in size by 5 times.

You can serve it as a dessert for tea, or you can use it as a decoration for a pie or cake, or make a filling for baking.

Useful Tips

  • Apples, if desired, can be peeled, only then they will have to be cooked very carefully, otherwise they will fall apart and turn into mashed potatoes.
  • In order for apple slices to retain their shape, they can be boiled a little in syrup. Alternatively, you can fill the apples with sugar and wait until they let the juice in, it will take at least 12 hours.
  • If apples are sweet - sugar can be taken less, if sour - more. It all depends on your preference.
  • For flavor and taste, you can add cinnamon or cloves to sugar.
  • If you boil apples first in syrup, then you can add lemon or orange juice to it.
