Kitchen appliances and utensils: stove (hob), 1-liter pan, cutting board, coarse and fine grater, knife, tablespoon, bowl, salad bowl.

Ingredients

Medium beets 2 pcs.
Garlic 2-3 cloves
Unrefined vegetable oil 1 tbsp. l
Mayonnaise of any fat content 1-2 tbsp. l
Salt taste
Black pepper (ground) taste
Water 500 ml

Step cooking

  1. Boil 2 medium-sized beets. To do this, thoroughly wash the root vegetables with a brush, put in a pan with 500 ml of cold water (beets should be covered by 2-3 cm) and put on the stove. When it boils, cook under the lid over low heat for 1.5-2 hours. To make the boiled beets tasty, they don’t peel and cut the root before cooking. Water does not need to be salted, but ½ tsp. You can add lemon juice to 1 liter of water - thanks to the acid, the saturated color of vegetables will remain.

  3. Peel, rinse and chop a few (2-3) cloves of garlic on a fine grater or in a garlic press.

  4. In a deep bowl, mix the grated beets and chopped garlic, salt and pepper to taste, add 1 tbsp. l vegetable oil (preferably unrefined) and 1-2 tbsp. l mayonnaise of any fat content.

In such a salad, you can add pickled cucumbers or olives, cut into small cubes, and prunes or raisins will also fit well into the taste spectrum. They must first be washed, soaked in hot water for 20-30 minutes, then drained, and dried fruit added to the salad - whole raisins, and prune - cut into pieces. Enjoy your meal!

  • To beets cooked faster, it can be lowered into boiling water, add 1-2 tbsp. l any fat (vegetable oil, lard, margarine) and cook for 35-40 minutes. over medium heat. Then drain the water and hold the beets under a stream of cold water for 15 minutes.
  • In any case, beets are best cooked in tall, narrow dishes to reduce the loss of vitamins.
  • You can cook beets in a pressure cooker, it will take from 40 to 60 minutes.
  • Cooking in a slow cooker in the Steaming, Cooking / Stewing, and Baking modes will take the same amount of time.
  • A microwave oven will also help to cook beets: the fastest way is to cook this vegetable in a baking bag. It is necessary to add washed and dried root vegetables into it, fasten the edges tightly and cook at full power for 10 to 20 minutes. - depending on the size of vegetables and microwave power.
  • In a microwave oven with a capacity of 1000 watts, medium-sized root vegetables are cooked for 9-11 minutes.
  • Sweet and tasty is beets baked in the oven. Each root crop needs to be washed, dried, wrapped in oiled foil and baked for 20-25 minutes. at a temperature of 190 ° C. This method should be used to prepare large quantities of beets.
  • Boiled or baked beets can be left in the refrigerator unpeeled for no more than 2 days.
