According to tradition, many centuries ago, Mary Magdalene brought the news of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to the Roman emperor. And since it was impossible to appear without an offering, Mary took a chicken egg with her as a symbol of life. The emperor did not believe that Jesus was resurrected, and objected, saying that the egg would soon turn red than the resurrection of the dead would be possible. But the egg really turned red - a miracle happened! Thus a tradition arose to paint chicken eggs for Easter, as a symbol of true faith in God and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

And how nice it is to give a beautiful egg or to brag about it! Now colorful dyes are sold everywhere, which save your time, but their naturalness is in doubt. Our tips will be useful if you are in no hurry and do not want to check the safety of artificial paints on yourself.

Depending on the desired color, we use the desired dye.

  • Onion peel. Cook the onion peel for 10-30 minutes, then let it brew and cool (so that the shell does not crack). Pour raw eggs with the resulting broth and cook, as usual, for about ten minutes. The brightness of the color depends on the amount of husk. And then your Easter eggs will sparkle with a palette from yellow to dark red!
  • Birch leaves. Can be used as young birch leaveslast year’s. The broth is prepared as well as the previous one. But the eggs you get is yellow or golden.
  • Carrots, beets, spinach. This is an easier way to get colorful eggs. Boil them until cooked, and then grate the juice of the listed raw vegetables with juice.

Decorate eggs when stained

Here are some examples of how to decorate an Easter egg in an original way before coloring.

  • If, before immersion in a coloring solution, wrap the egg with strings, then an unusual pattern will appear on the shell.
  • Attach leaves or blades of grass to the shell, and then after painting on the egg you get a landscape. Most often, table greens, parsley, and dill are used. To prevent the “clothes” from flying off during the immersion of such a “dressed up” egg, it is necessary to wrap it in gauze or use a children's sock.
  • To obtain a marble effect, it is necessary to tightly wrap the egg in foil before staining.
  • With the help of melted paraffin (candle) and a thin brush, you can draw any pattern that will remain unpainted after immersion in a coloring solution. In this case, use boiled eggs and a cold solution. After the development of the pattern, paraffin can be scraped off.
